Vermiculite Fireplace Panels, Reeded Chamber Panels, Fibreboard Panel Fitting Instructions

Handling and Storage: -

Vermiculite boards in all guises are very fragile and need to be handled with care they can be easily Cut (Sharp Knife), Sawn or Drilled then sealed with heat resistant products. The boards when installed and dried can be painted with Heat Resistant Paint to your choice of colour. We recommend careful handling to avoid Damage to the boards. Please ensure boards are laid flat prior to installation to avoid ‘bowing’, do not store boards upright.

Please allow the boards time to acclimatise for up to 48 hours to reduce expansion or contraction before fitting, which could lead to subsequent cracking when subjected to heat.

Wall Preparation & Fitting: -

Ensure the surface of the wall is clean and dry as the board should never be fitted to a damp surface, Vermiculite boards can be screwed or glued to the wall or using high temperature board adhesive. When using screws, ensure that avoid tearing the board by drilling and allow a 5cm diameter from the corner of the board. When using high temperature adhesive, ensure that the adhesive is spread evenly across the whole surface area of the board to avoid the potential for expansion confliction when the board is subject to heat. The ‘Dot - Dab’ method is not suitable for fixing Vermiculite Boards, A high temperature adhesive designed specifically for use with vermiculite board is available from our distributors.

Curing & Drying: -

Once the board is fixed to the wall, we recommend using a support to assist in bonding the board to the wall, Drying can take up to 6-hours, ensure that the boards are carefully positioned to allow the pattern to match. Wherever possible, avoid exposing the board to heat for 24 hours after fitting.
